Editor's Log 016
Anniversaries, runway canon, and everyone else doing the most.
Hi all,
Welcome back to the Editor’s Log. A pretty chill week on my end, but busy for everyone else by the looks of it.
Monday
Amie Blu is heading out on a US tour! I saw her live at Scala last month and she was phenomenal, so if you’re stateside, I’d absolutely recommend grabbing tickets.
Ten years since Jorja Smith dropped ‘Blue Lights.’ Honestly one of my favourite songs ever, and a huge foundational moment for modern British R&B. A lot of today’s artists owe her more than they’ll ever admit.
Tuesday
Wales Bonner SS26 is here. I love, love, love, love, love. Grace Wales Bonner has long been one of my favourite designers, certainly the most talented working right now. This collection is incredible, and I’m obsessed with the new Indian influences. I would do unspeakable things to be a fly on the wall during their research process.
Riz Ahmed has a new show coming out. The trailer is jokes and the cast looks great - Riz (obviously), Guz Khan… Also very excited to see him take on Hamlet.
Pitchfork has introduced reader scores for paying subscribers. Interesting move. I just hope Americans don’t start bombing British releases for no reason. They already had an American writer review Jawnino’s 40 - tough read.
Saiming announced a headline show! I will be there. It clashes with my sister’s birthday and my friend’s birthday party, but honestly? I don’t care.
I got featured by The Tenth Man as one of their “20 Game Changers for 2026.” Very gassed to be included!
Wednesday
Sable Yong wrote an interesting piece on Western beauty standards for Highsnobiety. I don’t fully agree - I think she takes an intriguing angle, but IMO Western beauty standards are cooked for slightly different reasons.
Raye is on the cover of Elle… giving absolutely nothing.
Thursday
Alastair McKim announced a new magazine backed by Peter Jones. I’m not totally convinced, but he was fine at i-D.
Oscar nominations dropped. My predictions:
Best Picture - Sinners
Best Director - Paul Thomas Anderson
Best Actor - Timothée Chalamet
I still need to watch One Battle After Another and Hamnet.
On Road announced their first print magazine, now available for pre-order. Proud to have contributed a few words.
James Blake (JB, not Justin Bieber) announced his new album Trying Times, out March 13th, with lead single Death of Love. Wow wow wow wow wow. I love James Blake. He’s been generational since CMYK. I cannot wait.
Friedz was featured by DJ Mag as one of their artists to watch this year. He’s sick, very deserved. Tap in.
Friday
Charli XCX’s The Moment premiered to mixed reviews. I don’t care, I’m still very excited to watch it.
Dave secured his fourth number-one single with Raindance. Cheesy Instagram-story-core? Sure. Do I still love it? Absolutely.
Saturday
Nike dropped a great AFCON recap video featuring JJ Okocha. Perfect link-up, no notes.
Jawnino was interviewed by Hollywood Superstar. I definitely need to check out that Thai restaurant now.
Sunday
The Femcels and Merky Ace both dropped. Completely different energies, both excellent.
Until next week,
P.S. Got a uni interview soon, wish me luck!
